If You Suspect Your Child Has a Learning Disability…

“The first sign may be that your bright child is having trouble reading, or organizing school assignments, or concentrating on homework. If you suspect that your child has a learning disability, your best recourse is to have the child tested. As with any health condition, an accurate diagnosis is crucial to developing an accurate treatment, which in this case is an education plan.”

What do they mean by “get your child tested”?

Before you can help your child, you need to be aware of his or her strengths, weaknesses, and any real challenges they are facing. Testing can reveal these.

I specialize in Comprehensive Educational Evaluation & Assessment and am licensed and well-qualified after 30+ years of training and working with children and adults to diagnose learning disabilities, dyslexia, ADHD, fetal alcohol syndrome, or behavioral or social problems that may interfere with learning and social functioning.

Initial evaluation and assessment is designed to identify and quantify the severity of your child’s learning disabilities and attention deficits. My approach is to then focus on “what do we do now” rather than just diagnosing the problem.

Once we know what we’re facing, we can create custom “tutorial-by-design” to help your student learn more efficiently, more readily and in a style that works best for him or her.

Educational Therapy helps to demystify learning and stimulate awareness in your child of his or her natural strengths. Educational therapy includes:

  • Reading recognition
  • Reading comprehension
  • Written language
  • Mathematics
  • Basic life skills
  • Organization
  • Time-management skills

I specialize in helping children develop basic skills and incorporate (when appropriate) computer programs and computer learning activities for use at home. Call me at 206.329.7100 to arrange assessment for your child or email me today:
