Coaching for Adults and Professionals

May 27th, 2010 by Markus Lefkovits

Why any coach won’t do: Coaching adults with ADHD is not like coaching executives or professionals without ADHD. Career coaches work to help these individuals reach their goals (sales goals, project goals, continuing education goals, etc) by asking them a series of questions to help them get their Game Plan or Road Map detailed enough that it’s easy to follow.

In those cases, the coach is acting as a peer who is helping the professional move forward, encouraging them to clarify the steps they require to reach their goals. For individuals with ADHD, you may be clueless as to where to even start mapping a route to reach your own goals.

For ADHD adults: coaching can introduce you to specific ways to manage your life and work — strategies and techniques that can help you manage your time, set and meet goals, organize tasks, and complete projects. My job as your coach is to introduce you to new techniques and strategies for improving the way you get things done.

I specialize in working with people who have ADHD and learning disabilities. I’ve focused on this for thirty years of my professional life and have trained and studied in evaluation and diagnosis and treatment of ADHD, learning disorders, depression, and anxiety. I could give you a million examples and reasons why coaching could help YOU – but sometimes it helps to hear it from someone else.

Here’s a great article from ADDitude Magazine called, 20 Reasons Why You Should Hire a Coach. It’s about how the right coach can help ADHD adults meet personal goals.

Take a look at it…
